Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course builds on previous medical-surgical knowledge and skills in applying the nursing process to the care of older adults while focusing on their unique physiological and psychosocial needs. Concepts of community-based nursing practice including the role of the nurse in the community, health promotion and disease prevention, and Healthy People 2020 will be emphasized. A holistic approach will be applied to the assessment and care of the older adult living in the community including strategies that promote independent living and enhanced quality of life as well as principles of end-of-life care. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe patient care to older adults in selected community settings.Usually HeldMon 1:00pm–3:00pm
