- Students will develop the basic ability to understand, speak, read and write the Japanese language. Students will acquire vocabulary and grammar knowledge to achieve novice-level proficiency in Japanese language skills. Students also will study cultural aspects of Japan. This course corresponds to two years of high school study and is not recommended for native speakers of Japanese.
