    Description
Students examine the role and function of the educational system in a multicultural society. The promise and challenges associated with kindergarten through grade twelve education in the United States will be explored. Topics will include teaching as profession and career pathways, historical and philosophical foundations of the educational system, California's content standards and frameworks, and contemporary educational issues. This course requires a minimum of 45 hours of structured fieldwork in a variety of public, elementary and middle school classrooms that reflect California's diverse student population. (C-ID EDUC 200)
