Students are introduced to the fundamentals of networking concepts and technologies. Students acquire the skills necessary to plan and implement small networks across a range of applications. Topics include the OSI model and industry standards, network topologies, IP addressing, IPv4, IPv6, subnet masks, networking components, and basic network design. Students will learn the architecture, structure, functions, and components of the Internet and other computer networks. Students achieve a basic understanding of how networks operate and how to build simple local area networks (LAN), perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement Internet Protocol (IP).
