Topics include descriptive statistics; probability and sampling distributions; statistical inference; correlation and linear regression; analysis of variance, chi-squared, and t-tests; and application of technology for statistical analysis including the interpretation of the relevance of the statistical findings. Students apply methods and processes to applications using data from a broad range of disciplines. There is a lot of emphasis on statistical analysis, with applications in business, social sciences, psychology, life sciences, health sciences and education. Use of technology (graphing calculators, EXCEL, or similar technology) is an important component of this course. A graphing calculator is recommended. Instructor demonstrations utilize a Texas Instruments graphing calculator. Formerly STATS 12. Since STAT C1000 and STAT C1000E are equivalent courses, credit may be awarded for either STAT C1000 or STAT C1000E but not both.
