    Description
    This course is designed to address the sociology of family and the social processes of family organization. Topics in the course include the diverse forms of the family found worldwide, family connections to the economy, marriage and divorce trends, myths about the declining family and "family values," and the realities of families living in poverty. The course examines the social, economic, gendered, and racial experiences of families in the U.S. The main goal of the course is to develop a sociological understanding of family as a social institution.
