    This course broadens the student's understanding and knowledge of psychiatric nursing through the Client Needs model. It presents mental health concepts related to community mental health, anxiety and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, nutritional needs of the client with a psychiatric disorder, affective (mood) disorders, psychiatric health & illness in the aging population, sexual and gender identity disorders, eating disorders, addiction and co-dependency, crisis intervention and suicide prevention, cultural diversity, institutionalization, forensic nursing, and criminal thinking/psychopathology. This course includes supervised clinical experiences in skills labs and health care facilities.
