Course content includes mental health concepts and the nursing care of clients with psychiatric disorders. Therapeutic communication techniques, health education to promote a healthy lifestyle are emphasized. A community project in the area of substance abuse prevention and treatment will be completed. This course will incorporate the psychosocial needs and the neuropsychiatric disorders affecting geriatric clients. This course includes supervised clinical experiences in skills labs and health care facilities.
