Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course is a comprehensive survey of mass communication and the interrelationships of media with society, including history, development and trends in the digital age, including analysis of newspapers, magazines, television, radio, online media, public relations, advertising and photojournalism. Students discuss theories and effects, economics, technology, law and ethics, global media, media literacy, and social issues, including gender and cultural diversity. The impact of mass media in a free society is also examined. The course also addresses controls on the media, including media law and ethics. The constitutional basis for a free press is explored.
