    This course involves the study of the substantive and procedural rules, skills, knowledge, and forms for handling federal and California state civil cases. Topics include selected pretrial, discovery, trial, and post-trial procedures for paralegals, as well as evidence, jurisdiction, document and trial preparation, judicial council form use, fact gathering and investigation, case analysis, pleadings and motions, settlements, judgments, and appeals. Select areas of law will be emphasized, such as immigration law, workers' compensation law, and tort law.
