    This course is an introduction to the study of African and Caribbean dances. It introduces dance as a vehicle for cultural, historical and religious functions in the Caribbean through the lens of anthropologist, Katherine Dunham. Students will explore Caribbean dances with strong roots in the African culture, connections to black dance in North America and train in Dunham dance technique.
