Content and examples are drawn from the public and nonprofit sectors, but the principles and techniques covered in the course apply to ethics in any organization. Topics include the history and context of ethical thought, ethical theories, codes and standards of ethics, ethical decision making, leadership ethics, and personal ethics development. Emphasis is placed on ethical dilemmas and other issues that commonly arise in the fields of public administration, law enforcement, emergency medical services, and emergency management. This course is intended to meet upper division general education requirements for students enrolled in baccalaureate degree programs.
