Emphasis is placed on examining the sources and qualities of American Indian spirituality and how it contrasts with notions of religion in Western Civilization. Topics include exploring the creation stories and oral traditions of Indian nations as well as examining how the deprivation of access to spiritual practices and resources has negatively impacted Native communities. This course is intended for students interested in the field of Native American studies or exploring the history and experiences of Native Americans.
