    This course is the second in a series of four courses that collectively serve as the San Diego Miramar College Regional Fire Academy (MCRFA). Fire Fighter 1B covers skills and knowledge needed for the entry level Fire Fighter with a focus on the State Fire Training Requirements for Fire Fighter 1B, Hazardous Materials First Responder Awareness (FRA) and Hazard Materials First Responder Operations (FRO) Operations and Weapons of Mass Destruction. Other topics include hazardous materials protective equipment, hazardous materials identification, defensive operations, decontamination, and documentation. To receive a passing grade in this course, a score of 80% or higher on all written exams and 100% on all manipulative tests is required per California State Fire Marshal regulation. This course is intended for students majoring in the certificate of achievement for the Fire Academy or those interested in a career in the fire service. This course is a requirement for Fire Fighter I Certification.
