Emphasis is placed on the role of Chicanos in the development of the United States throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Topics include slavery in the former Mexican territories, the Native American experience, immigration patterns and constitutional development and government in California. This course is intended for all students interested in history, ethnic studies, or other social issues.
