- This course is an introduction to the teaching profession. Emphasis is placed on the historical and philosophical foundations of the American education system and contemporary trends and issues related to teaching diverse learners in Kindergarten through grade 12 (K-12) classrooms. California's content standards and frameworks and teacher performance standards are also examined. This course is designed for students considering teaching as a profession.
