Emphasis is placed on the use of complex language structures and vocabulary to communicate beyond casual conversation and to express opinions and offer hypothetical possibilities related to abstract issues and plans, cultural norms and values, and interpersonal relationships. Students are encouraged to think critically by analyzing linguistic structures and making cross cultural comparisons related to the Spanish speaking world. This course is intended for students majoring in Spanish and anyone interested in gaining proficiency in the Spanish language for academic purposes and/or personal enrichment.
