    This course is designed for students who are interested in learning effective problem-solving methods used in manufacturing industries. Topics include planning for problem solving, developing a competent problem-solving team, defining and describing the problem, proposing interim containment plans, identifying and verifying root causes, identifying and verifying permanent corrections, implementing and validating corrective actions, applying preventive measures, and effectively communicating results. Emphasis is placed on the concept of proactive problem-solving including risk analysis, design for manufacturability, and error-proofing processes.
