In this course, students develop an understanding of the nature of language through the study of core areas in linguistics, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. Students also read, write, and think critically about related fields such as psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, and animal communication.
