Mediation is a process by which parties submit their dispute to a neutral third party who works with them to reach a mutually agreeable settlement. Emphasis is placed on the mediation process, the role of the mediator, communication and listening skills, and the human dynamics of conflict. The role of the mediator is to assist disputing parties in reaching a peaceful, just and equitable resolution to a conflict. This course is intended for students interested in Conflict Resolution and Mediation, Communication Studies, Anthropology, Counseling, Peace Studies, Psychology, Business, Sociology and other related fields.
