Students will examine the challenges of IT and operational technology (OT) networks, particularly under the legal framework of America's Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA), and learn to identify vulnerabilities, plan cybersecurity policies, and assess risks related to water quantity, quality, regulations, and public trust. The course also emphasizes the role of cybersecurity in protecting data, safeguarding infrastructure, and ensuring equitable access to reliable water services. Students will develop formal cybersecurity policies, acceptable use policies for sustainable water resources management, and security awareness training tailored to water utility organizations. By integrating principles of anti-racism, students will analyze the intersection of water policy, technology, and environmental indicators to promote equitable outcomes and inclusive practices in water resources management.
