Transfers ToCSUDescriptionExploration of ways in which films from different eras, genres, and cultures present fundamental philosophical ideas and give expression to philosophical theories and criticism. Although some discussion of the nature of cinema as a form of art may take place, this is not a course on aesthetics or film theory. The class will be devoted to examining ways in which film as a medium and cultural product presents philosophical ideas, subjects them to criticism, and reveals much about the human condition.
