The focus is on providing family centered care, the application of nursing practice and professional standards, evidence based practice, safety and quality improvement, nursing informatics and effective collaboration with health care team members. Nutrition, medication/fluid administration, physiology, growth and development, comfort/pain management advocacy, and community based care are emphasized. The following concepts are integrated: diversity among US cultural groups, disease process and illness prevention, restorative care, and the values and attitudes required of the professional registered nurse.
