    Description
    Teaching skills performed in the medical office laboratory, including patient preparation, accurate specimen collection and performance of Point of Care Testing, equipment calibration, regulatory compliance, OSHA, CLIA and CDC guidelines. Students identify methods of specimen collection, equipment, lab tests and normal versus abnormal values. Students demonstrate competencies related to collection of urine and blood, including venipuncture, capillary puncture, urine testing, throat, respiratory specimens, safe handling of blood and body fluids in compliance with regulatory and industry standards. Pass/No Pass, Non-credit only. The class is intended for incumbent workers seeking additional job skills.
