    An introductory course focusing on the ethical and legal standards and requirements of the human services (HS) profession, as well as the ethical standards for Addiction Treatment Counselors. It emphasizes the relationship of values in the role of the HS professional and includes areas such as practice, training, supervision, and consultation. The course examines various professional ethical standards and codes of conduct and identifies confidentiality laws and ethical standards, including the Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) 42 Part 2, as they relate to the provision of treatment for substance use and addictive disorders.
