Students will be introduced to historical and etiological models of substance use disorders and process addictions. Self-exploration and professional issues in addiction counseling will be examined. Students will be introduced to various clinical documentation formats and evidence-based interventions. This course will introduce students to counseling skills needed to work with special and diverse populations as well as various treatment modalities.
