    Description
In this content-based course, students are introduced to selected periods of American history and aspects of American culture through film. Discussion and writing assignments are based on background readings which complement these films. Film provides students with visual, kinesthetic and auditory modes of learning which makes it a highly effective method of enhancing second or foreign-language acquisition. It also offers opportunities to learn idiomatic expression, pronunciation and vocabulary as well as improve listening comprehension while gaining insight into American culture. This course is offered for zero units on an open-entry/open-exit basis.
