The course covers Tagalog sounds, pronunciation, pitch and intonations, basic vocabulary, and grammar. The focus is on developing vocabulary set in high occurrence sentence patterns relating to everyday situations such as greetings and introductions, making friends, talking about self and others, shopping, etc. Grammar will emphasize simple sentences, sentence formations, verb conjugations, and functions. The development of basic skills (listening, speaking, and writing) in a cultural context will be a special focus.
