The course addresses how health, wellness, disease, and disability affect engagement in daily life tasks across the lifespan and how occupational therapy (OT) interventions are used to maximize performance in these activities. The role of the Occupational Therapy Assistant is defined in partnership with that of Occupational Therapists. Historical aspects of OT are presented as well as current and emerging practice settings and populations. Professional activities, requirements, ethics, and behaviors are also discussed. Students will complete a virtual clinical observation activity.
