This course focuses on the care of the medical, surgical, and psychiatric nursing patients to meet their needs for risk reduction and optimal wellness in preventative, restorative, or rehabilitative settings. The sub-concepts integrated throughout the course include safety, human development, nutrition, sexuality, cultural and spiritual diversity, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and legal/ethical principles. Course emphasis is on mental health and psychopathology, medical surgical content, end-of-life care, and evaluation of patient-centered outcomes.
