Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis is an introductory course in programming and problem solving with an emphasis on data science using a programming language commonly used in the field (e.g., Python, R, SAS). Specific topics include programming fundamentals, data science components, process, and application. By learning core techniques of data science (e.g., preparation, cleaning, analyzing, and visualization), students also learn how to think critically about data ethics (e.g., what a data set represents and how it functions in different contexts). Credit may be earned for either CISD 357 or CISP 357, but not both. This course was formerly known as Introduction to Big Data.
