The course will examine different health promotion and disease prevention strategies that are used as primary health and population-based methods. Public health, home health care settings, and clinic/hospital-based services will be addressed. Emphasis is placed on family-wellness and illness in various community settings using examples of various communities and cultural settings throughout California. Aspects of community health are explored based on a demographic and epidemiological approach as well as building an environmental awareness and acquiring problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
