Course content includes basic methods of ceramic forming through the use of hand-construction techniques and the potter's wheel, glaze application, and kiln firing processes. Lectures will be presented on the historical uses of clay and its relationship to the progress of civilizations and industry. The basis of the course is an emphasis on technical development and exploration of clay as a mean for aesthetic growth. Students are required to purchase supplies needed for the course at a cost of between $100-150.
