    Description
    Description: Through guided music notation and analysis, Fundamentals of Music incorporates the following concepts: Rhythm and meter; basic properties of sound; intervals; diatonic scales and triads; diatonic chords; basic cadential formulas and phrase structure; dominant seventh; figured bass symbols; and non-harmonic tones. Development of skills in handwritten notation is expected. Laboratory includes sight singing and ear training activities that incorporate melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic dictation. Keyboard activities require the playing of major and minor scales, modes, triads, and seventh chords. 54.00 hours lecture and 54.00 hours laboratory. (TBA Option) (Letter grade only)
