Transfers ToCSUDescriptionDescription: History of Africa from the Paleolithic period to 1800; an interdisciplinary survey of the emergence and development of African civilizations that focuses on geographical, environmental economic, social, cultural, and political issues. Discusses some of the most significant developments of the African past, including early state-building, the growing influence of Islam and Christianity, and the impact of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. To accomplish these aims, this course will investigate how scholars approach this history through archeological evidence, oral traditions, and written documents to understand historical developments on the continent. 54.00 hours lecture.
