The course reviews the concepts and techniques available for planning and controlling inventories. Students will examine methods to determine the appropriate amount of inventory to carry; the relationship between inventory as a physical asset and an accounting asset; the difference between raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods inventories; controlling the physical locations of inventory; recognizing and analyzing inventory dysfunctions; bar code technologies; and protecting inventory from natural, technological, and man-made disasters.
