Description: This course is a survey of the role American Indians and Black Americans have played in the historical development of the United States from the earliest times to the present. The course begins with a study of racism, followed by the history and cultural contributions of American Indians and African Americans. This course fulfills the American Institutions requirement for the associate degree (Title 5, Section 40404). The course is intended for students who want to increase their understanding of the history of minorities in the United States. This course also satisfies a course requirement for the Associate in Arts in History for Transfer (AA-T).
