Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis is an introductory course designed to familiarize the student with the basic operation and maintenance of a multitude of systems commonly found on Heavy Equipment machinery. Students will learn the fundamentals of diesel engines, clutches, manual transmissions, torque converters, automatic transmissions, drive lines, steer and drive axles, various brake and hydraulic systems. In addition, the students will learn basic tools and equipment, and how to safely perform basic repairs and maintenance operations. This is the first course in a series of Heavy Equipment Technology classes, and is designed for the student who wants to enter the field of Heavy Equipment Maintenance and Repair.
