    Description
Introduction to African American Studies takes an interdisciplinary approach to exploring the history, culture, and experiences of African Americans in the United States and the origins and foundations of Black/ American Studies as an academic discipline. This study, ranging from the early modern era to the present day, examines approximately five hundred years of cultural, sociological, political, psychological, historical, and economic developments and transformations of people of African descent in the United States. Students will interrogate a broad range of literature, art, music, film, and political and social discourse to understand African Americans' history, culture, contributions, achievements, and struggles.
