The course covers the proper selection, safe use, and maintenance of both hand and power tools. Students learn to distinguish conditions when the use of hand and power tools are appropriate alternatives to stationary saws and equipment. Discussions help students identify key tool features, accessories, and tasks that can be performed using a variety of methods and techniques. Practical exercises focus on various saw types, hand planes, and handheld drills.
