Other topics include resistance and immunity to disease, basic biological principles, microbial genetics and physiology, the harmful and useful aspects of microorganisms in nature, medicine, and industry. Laboratory exercises emphasize sterile culture techniques and the detection, isolation, and identification of microorganisms.
