The course explores both traditional and contemporary painting techniques while stressing an ability to perceive and define shape, contour, volume, texture, space, and light using acrylic or oil painting media. Emphasis is placed on learning the techniques of painting, understanding the use of color, and strengthening observation and rendering skills while providing an understanding of the historical and cultural development of painting in human expression and creativity.
