The art of representative native tribes of the territory now encompassed by the United States and Canada is comparatively examined. Works of art and architecture are presented in relation to the various religious beliefs, political/ economic systems, and cultural practices of the ancient Americas. Art historical and archaeological methodologies relating to the understanding and interpretation of non-Western art are discussed.
