    Description
    This course provides students with foundational knowledge and essential skills for a successful career in dental assistance. Topics include the history of dentistry, patient documentation, HIPAA regulations, the California Dental Practice Act, infection control protocols, waste management, sterilization procedures, recognition of common oral diseases, and the measurement of vital signs. Emphasis is placed on developing clinical awareness, ethical responsibility, and an understanding of professional standards. Five (5) high school elective credits will be awarded if a student passes the course with a minimum grade of 70%.
