Included are discussions of biological macromolecules, energy production, metabolic pathways and regulation, genetic code, genomics, DNA replication, transcription and RNA processing, translation, and gene regulation. Laboratory activities will include use of visible and UV spectroscopy, chromatography, cell fractionation, ultracentrifugation, protein purification, electrophoresis, and recombinant DNA methods. This course is designed for biology majors, health pre-professionals, and biotechnology majors.
