Prerequisite: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with Intravenous (IV) certification or Registered Nursing student with evaluation of skills and knowledge as outlined per the Program Policy of Granting credit for Previous Education and/or Experience. This course is required for all Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) seeking advanced placement in the nursing program. Upon successful completion of this course, students enter into the third semester of the nursing program. This course presents concepts and thinking required of the nursing courses at the end of the first year. The course also includes content specific to RN education not included in an LVN program. It also builds on the care of the patients across the life span including the reproducing family, children, adults, and the elderly. Advanced nursing skills are taught in the skills laboratory and course content is applied to patient care in the simulation laboratory. Not open to students with credit in NURS P170.
