Read, interpret, and analyze approximately nine key comedies, tragedies, and histories for an understanding of their themes, background, and literary significance. View video productions for discussion of dramatic elements, contrasting productions and dramatic techniques, and for visual reinforcement of the textual elements. Discussion should emphasize Shakespeare's language and poetic style, as well as historical and sociological connections to each of the plays.
