Includes the nature of language and the geographic origins of language, the nature of language and how languages differ and relate to each other in how they can be used to trace different peoples and their past. How languages both spoken and written change over time due to power imbalances, socio-culture conflict, and politics. The linguistic concepts are introduced with the help of language families and information about their geographical and genealogical contexts.
