Principles of critical thinking applied to writing and reading on complex issues which incorporate logic, inductive and deductive reasoning, the critique of logical fallacies, persuasion, analysis and evaluation of appropriate prose models, including those employing argument, other rhetorical modes, and critical thinking strategies specific to various modes of thought. Selective use of citation and documentation. No credit if taken after ENGL C1001H, ENGL 001C, or ENGL 001CH. Formerly ENGL 001C.
