This course is designed primarily for students whose programs of study have no further mathematics requirements. Its purpose is to develop an understanding of numerical information as it is used in the modern world. The course includes linear and exponential functions to model growth and decay processes and the effect of compounding interest in personal finance situations. Elementary probability theory to calculate the likelihood of events and descriptive statistics will be used to organize and make sense of data sets.
